Tuesday morning I watched as 3 of our new artisans were being trained to make earrings. Their was extreme focus and consentration as the steps were explained. With steady hands the women worked to make the earrings just right.
A few moments later, the scene changed as one of the artisans discretly put on one of the earrings. I sat down next to her and told her she looked beautiful. At first, Denise was embarrassed I had noticed her wearing one of the earrings. But after complementing her, she looked around the room with a new confidence and the other ladies asked if it would be okay if they too tried out a pair of earrings.
As the ladies laughed and admired the new beauty they were modeling I was reminded of the lyrics to the Bethany Dillon song, Beautiful
I want to be beautiful
Make you stand in awe
Look inside my heart,
and be amazed
I want to hear you say
Who I am is quite enough
Just want to be worthy of love
And beautiful
Make you stand in awe
Look inside my heart,
and be amazed
I want to hear you say
Who I am is quite enough
Just want to be worthy of love
And beautiful
The song continues by mentioning a variety of ways and places we search for beauty. I love wearing earrings and having cute clothes, but our beauty is not found in our outward adornment. May we never forget the source of our true beauty, Christ alone...
You make me beautiful
You make me stand in awe
You step inside my heart, and I am amazed
I love to hear You say
Who I am is quite enough
You make me worthy of love and beautiful
You make me stand in awe
You step inside my heart, and I am amazed
I love to hear You say
Who I am is quite enough
You make me worthy of love and beautiful
