A Life Well Lived

My Granny passed away early Saturday morning.  Throughout the past 5 years she has put in a very long battle with a terrible disease.  Although we will miss her greatly, my heart is at peace knowing this very moment she is FREE from all her pain and suffering.

These past several days have been spent making funeral arrangements, and reflecting on the life of my Granny.  I have been incredibly blessed to be with my family during this time.  We have laughed to the point of tears as we have shared moments of my precious Granny.  She loved her daughters, and her grandchildren.  She has instilled in me so much of what it means to care for and look to the ways of your household.

Granny was a PROFESSIONAL homemaker.  I grew up right down the road from my grandparents.  I LOVED all the time we were able to spend together.  Granny's witty sense of humor and her diligent work ethic made her a joy to be around.

It is by no accident that the two of us are both wearing yellow shirts in the picture above, I wanted to be just like her.  Granny always loved working in her yard and being outside.  Her sunglasses made everything look orange, and she would wear them all the time.  I too now have a pair of orange sunglasses...they just make the world look better.

As we gather with extended family and friends over the next two days, my prayer is that our tears will be tears of joy.  My Granny lived a full life, and lived it well.  She embraced each day, and taught us to do the same.  May we celebrate her life, and thank God for the many memories we will never forget.

  3. Hello Chelsea,
I didn't get the chance to meet you last week while our team was in Haiti, but wanted to let you know that we were praying for you and your family with your loss of your Grandma.
Trey made us all feel very welcomed at the mission and we are all missing Haiti now that we're back home.
I read that you're off of facebook for a while, so I won't ask you to check out my pictures!
If you haven't heard the story of Rosita (the woman that we built the home for) ask Trey about that.
My time in Haiti was life-changing, and we saw God move in so many awesome ways.
    yours in Christ,
    Lisa Wanta
